Interesting day last night. I had a 10 hour mission in the morning escorting a general then, went to bed at 5:00pm slept until 9:00 went to bed at 11:00pm then got awakened at 12:30am for mounted combat patrols through the city (Kabul) with the Afghan Army. For hours we drove around the deserted streets looking for people out past the curfew. The city has 6 million people and it was like a ghost town. Only our vehicles could be heard. We have night vision and thermal sights so it's impossible to hide from us. It was actually very exciting. I must have coounted 50 mangy dogs roaming the streets. Most of them probably had rabies so we don't pet or feed them. (I'm talking about the dogs not the people..ha ha ha) Today while we were on foot patrol, I gave this little kid a power bar, he was filthy, barefoot and peddling scarves for $1.00 I'll send the picture tonight if I have time. If any of you want to send anything, I could really use socks. (don't even think about sending me pink socks or anything along those lines!! (you know who you are!!!) Black or white woould be greatly appreciated, they would have to be calf high so I don't get blisters. Well I am off to dinner while it is 9:00am there. ha ha ha Sounds weird. Later.
